CVS Health Corp Cutting 600+ jobs

& Hundreds of LP jobs cut

CVS is making cuts at its corporate offices in Rhode Island, Illinois and Arizona over the next two months, citing an increasingly competitive environment. The drugstore chain operator, which is expected to report third-quarter results next week, employs more than 240,000 people in the United States. Employees being affected will be allowed to apply for other positions in the company, the company said in a statement.

They restructured the Senior Regional Loss Prevention Manager position and eliminated nearly half of those positions throughout the country.  Where they had two in larger markets they went to having one Regional LPM.

The Pharmacy (Drug Diversion) Investigations positions, a new position started last year is also being eliminated.

The hourly Market Investigator positions are being reduced fom 500 positions to 300 positions according to sources.  Thereby eliminating as many as 200 positions.

On the flip-side, a newly created Asset Protection Manager position has been created to manage the Market Investigations teams throughout the country.

Sources: U.S. intel warning of possible al Qaeda attacks in U.S. Monday

CBS News has learned about a potential terror threat for the day before the election.

Sources told CBS News senior investigative producer Pat Milton that U.S. intelligence has alerted joint terrorism task forces that al Qaeda could be planning attacks in three states for Monday.

It is believed New York, Texas and Virginia are all possible targets, though no specific locations are mentioned.

U.S. authorities are taking the threat seriously, though the sources stress the intelligence is still being assessed and its credibility hasn’t been confirmed. Counterterrorism officials were alerted to the threat out of abundance of caution.

A senior FBI official told CBS News, “The counterterrorism and homeland security communities remain vigilant and well-postured to defend against attacks here in the United States. The FBI, working with our federal, state and local counterparts, shares and assesses intelligence on a daily basis and will continue to work closely with law enforcement and intelligence community partners to identify and disrupt any potential threat to public safety.”

Intelligence about potential threats always increases during holiday seasons and when big events are approaching.

As Election Day nears, federal law enforcement is planning for several worst-case scenarios.

Earlier this week, an alert warned local police of “polling places” being seen as “attractive targets” for “lone wolf”-type attacks by individuals motivated by violent extremist ideologies, sovereign citizen or other extremist activity.

New York City Prepares For Election Day - New York City officials warned about possible al Qaeda terror attack ahead of election. Gov. Andrew Cuomo declined to confirm the threat Friday but also noted the high state of alert for Election Day. “We have more state police, more National Guard, more soldiers on duty than ever before,” he said. “So the bad news is New York is often a threat. The good news is we’ve been dealing with this now for over a decade and we have prepared for it.”
