Leading Retail Chain Implements RFID With Checkpoint Systems to Improve
Availability of Merchandise
Over 1,000 stores installed in 100 days
THOROFARE,
N.J. – Nov 6, 2013 –
Checkpoint Systems, Inc., (NYSE:CKP), a leading global supplier of
merchandise availability solutions for the retail industry, today announced that
a leading North American retail chain completed the deployment of Checkpoint’s
Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) solutions in all of its 1,000+ retail
stores.
The retailer selected Checkpoint as its end-to-end solution provider based upon
many criteria, including Checkpoint’s performance during a pilot in a
significant number of its stores and its capability to scale-up deployment of
hundreds of stores per week. Checkpoint’s software architecture and its licensed
technologies also minimize the risk of RFID patent licensing litigation which
enabled the retailer to achieve a rapid return on investment.
The retailer’s objective in deploying RFID is to improve the consumer’s shopping
experience through improved inventory accuracy and merchandise availability,
both omni-channel and in-store. As a result, consumers will find exactly what
they are looking for when they are ready to buy. RFID will provide the retailer
with improved operational visibility, enabling the retailer to move products
from stock rooms to the sales floor at the right time, and to optimize the
location of inventory throughout the supply chain and stores.
To accomplish this, the retail chain deployed Checkpoint’s
Merchandise Visibility enterprise software centrally in its data center,
together with handheld RFID readers to perform regular in-store inventory
counts, Checkpoint’s
RFID tags and labels for initial store tagging, tagging at distribution
centers, and source tagging. Based on its solution architecture and deployment
methodology, Checkpoint was able to complete the implementation of this solution
chain-wide in more than 1,000 stores in just 100 days.
“RFID provides rapid benefits and a platform for competitive advantage. We are
excited to be the systems integrator and program lead for this implementation,
and we are committed to a successful and evolving RFID program as this
innovative retailer aims to leap-frog its competition,” commented Per Levin,
President and Chief Sales Officer, Merchandise Availability Solutions,
Checkpoint Systems.
Because the retailer views its RFID implementation as a competitive advantage,
it has chosen at this time to remain anonymous.
