Universal Surveillance Systems Donates Customized
State-of-the-Art Video/GPS Vests to San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Bloodhound
K9 Tracking Unit
Rancho Cucamonga,
CA – November 7, 2013 –
Universal Surveillance Systems LLC (USS), the largest privately held
innovator of loss prevention solutions, has developed and donated two
state-of-the-art customized high-tech tracking canine vests equipped with
wireless video surveillance and GPS location technology to the San Bernardino
County (CA) Sheriff’s Department Rancho Cucamonga Station. The vests will
greatly enhance the department’s new Bloodhound K9 Tracking Unit by providing it
with cutting edge remote video and location data feed technology for smart
phones and laptops.
The specialized vests utilize the latest technology to track the hounds’
locations at all times while recording and transmitting the audio and video of
their searches for documentation ofsuspect apprehensions and canine training.
Each vest is equipped with state-of-the-art video and GPS units integrated into
a high performance, easy to use tracking and monitoring system.
The compact camera records audio and 1080p HD video with a 1.5-hour capacity at
the highest video resolution. For event documentation, the cameras can also take
up to 3,000 still photos viaremote control. Using the camera’s Wi-Fi interface
through a smart phone or laptop, law enforcement has complete camera control and
can monitor live video and audio. Recorded video and photos are easily uploaded
to a smart phone or computer via Wi-Fi or USB cable and can be immediately
forwarded for time-sensitive applications such as warrants. For use in rough
terrains, the rugged camera is waterproof to 30 feet.
The GPS unit transmits the dog’s current location, and the receiver displays and
records the paths traveled of up to 10 dogs from a nine-mile range on a map to
greatly facilitate tracking logistics and eliminate duplicative searches. A
compass-tracking feature allows law enforcement to physically follow the dogs
via a directional display or actual location on the map. The GPS unit’s built-in
sensors also indicate if a dog is sitting, running, barking, on point or treeing
a suspect.
