Birmingham, AL Police looking for shoplifters who targeted upscale-stores at The Summit; nearly $100,000 in merchandise reported missing  An upscale shopping center in Birmingham becomes a target for shoplifters. Birmingham police are looking for two women who stole merchandise from several stores at The Summit. Several stores have filed police reports. Police have not released the names of those businesses, but some are national chains. Lt. Sean Edwards says "They both go into the store. One actually distracts one of the cashiers and the other individuals take the merchandise and puts it in a bag." Police say the duo has stolen more than $100,000 in merchandise. (Source abc3340.com)

Tampa woman gets 7 years for credit card fraud; restitution of $599,744
A Tampa woman has been sentenced to seven years in prison after pleading guilty to credit card fraud, then fleeing, said U.S. Attorney A. Lee Bentley III. Danay Crespo-Rodriguez, 25, pleaded guilty Oct. 1, and was released on bond, then fled supervision on Nov. 10. She was recaptured after she was arrested at a Tampa-area Target on shoplifting and assault charges. In addition to the prison time, Crespo-Rodriguez was ordered to pay $599,744.11 in restitution to her victims and a forfeiture judgment of $655,568.61, which represents the proceeds of her crimes. Houma, LA couple allegedly stole from $2500 in merchandise from Walmart and Academy Sport  Roy Hebert, 49, and Melanie Nowlin, 42, both of 214 A Cliffwood Court in Houma, were arrested Tuesday afternoon. Each faces a felony theft charge in Terrebonne in connection with about $2,500 worth of thefts from Wal-Mart and Academy Sports, police said. They are both remained in the Terrebonne Parish jail Tuesday. (Source dailycomet.com)

Four charged in armed robbery of Lowe's store in O'Fallon, MO
Three men and a woman have been charged in the armed robbery of a Lowe's home improvement store late Friday afternoon. Authorities said one suspect, Daniel Scott McManness pulled a knife and threatened a store employee as McManness and Blake Thomas Edgar left the building with about $1,400 in power tools and other items. The employee had stopped the two at the door and struggled with McManness over the shopping cart they were using. The two fled in a waiting vehicle with a woman and man who were inside, then tried to hide before they were arrested at a nearby business. Also arrested Friday was the woman; the other man was arrested Monday. (Source stltoday.com)
