Dramatic Decrease in Number of Defeats Reported in a Test for Spartan Tag

RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif., (August 21, 2014) – In a store plagued by high shrink, USS was able to decrease the number of tag defeats to almost zero with its Spartan tag, the company reports.

“A large national chain gave us a challenge to help with a store where they were finding up to 30 of our competitor’s tags defeated on the sales floor every week,” says Michael Sayegh, USS’ R&D project manager. “We developed a new tag—code named Spartan—that would address the specific challenges that the retailer shared with us. The results were astonishing.”

“In a 30-day test of our Spartan tag in this same store only 3 defeats were reported,” adds Tony Oliver, USS’ chief technology officer. “And even then it wasn’t the tag that was defeated: the thieves cut the material around the tag and stole coats that were now damaged. So it was really the poor coats that were defeated.”

In answering the question of how is it possible to go from 30 defeats a week to just 3 per month, Oliver explained that the Spartan is constructed with several anti-tampering features including a longer pin, notched seat for the pin head, a clutch that can withstand up to 180 lbs of pull force, and at least one more feature that he said he could not reveal publically.

The company is offering a limited number of free samples of this tough tag through its website, but only to LP professionals with a verifiable LP role and corporate mailing address: http://www.universaleas.com/promo2
