The skimming thieves at 20 Lucky Supermarkets self-checkout lanes story continues to evolve with over 1,000 calls from customers saying they've been victims. Lucky is checking all of their 234 stores in California and are working with the local, state, and federal law enforcement. Lucky Supermarkets has removed the tampered card readers, which were made by VeriFone, in the stores known to be affected and says it is enhancing security of every credit and debit card reader in all 234 of its stores. More on the ORC $50,000 toy shoplifting spree that hit 90 stores over 7 to 10 days in New York and PA. A public defender assigned to one of three people accused of stealing thousands of dollars in merchandise in a multi-state shoplifting spree has been asked to be taken off the case because he's representing the woman's 17 year old son. ORC charges brought against two suspects for hitting multiple Target Stores in Mesa, Arizona
. Two people who were arrested on suspicion of stealing more than $4,600 in jewelry from three Target stores told Mesa police they needed the money because they were unemployed. (Source azcentral.com)

Counterfeit American Express travelers cheques popping up at Dartmouth, Mass., retailers
. A female suspect and a male accomplice have successfully passed a number $100 American Express Travelers cheques at Target stores in the area and attempted to use one at a local Dick's Sporting Good's store. The Dartmouth Police Department ask that anyone with information regarding the female perpetrator's identity to call the Detective Division at (508) 910-1775 or the Crime Tip Line at (508) 997-9900.
