Houston, TX: Cargo Theft Ring busted with help of Country Music Star; "Operation Wheels & Deals" leads to 130 arrests in $2 Million theft
When thieves pounced on country music star Zane Williams' van and trailer outside a restaurant in north Houston in May 2015, they unwittingly tipped off authorities to where they kept stolen equipment and pushed law enforcement agencies to work on similar cases together. On Tuesday, the Houston Police Department and the Department of Homeland Security announced a network of 130 people had been arrested and charged with stealing upward of $2 million of merchandise from trailers throughout the Houston area, all within the past year. HPD made 80 of those arrests.

Orland Park, IL: Arrest Warrants Issued for Shoplifting Crew; part of the same crew were seen stealing merchandise from Lowe's
Arrests warrants were issued for two people believed to be part of a shoplifting crew with a yen for hitting home improvement stores, said an Orland Park police detective. Stephani Salzman, 33, with addresses in Calumet City, IL, and Hammond, IN, was observed by store security walking out of the Lowe's store on S. LaGrange with a tankless water heater. The water heater was valued at $990. The detective told the judge that Salzman was picked out of a photo array by store security who recognized her from past thefts.

Blanchard, LA: Wal-Mart Employee Arrested in $9,000 gift card scheme
A now former employee of retail giant, Wal-Mart, is facing theft charges after an investigation linked her to thousands of dollars of stolen gift cards. 36-year-old Shtonya Webb is accused of stealing more than $9,000 worth of loaded gift cards from the Wal-Mart in Blanchard. Sheriff's Detective Casey Jones investigated the case and made the arrest after being notified that Webb, a cashier at the store, was accused of loading Wal-Mart gift cards without payment on twelve separate occasions.

Santa Clarita, CA: Two Arrested Following Burglary

Two suspects were arrested in Canyon Country Sunday night after allegedly leaving Home Depot with a shopping cart full of stolen merchandise, reportedly engaging in a physical altercation with store security before fleeing in a stolen vehicle. There was a struggle over the merchandise and the suspects fled (in a stolen vehicle)," said Cambra, noting no one was injured in the altercation.

Chesterfield, MO: Two "Big Shark" Bike Shop employees busted in $40,00 theft
Two former Big Shark employees are accused of working together to steal from the bike shop. Gina Perschbacher and Christopher Ploch, who were dating, worked together to steal tens of thousands of dollars worth of bicycle parts over the course of a year and a half. During an investigation, it was determined that Perschbacher had linked a company credit card to her PayPal account in April 2015. The couple is accused of purchasing more than $40,000 worth of merchandise then not entering the parts into the store's inventory. Perschbacher has been charged with felony identity theft for using credit card information was not lawfully permitted to use.

Two suspects led police on a chase and hit a parked car Monday afternoon, after allegedly making off with items from the Victoria's Secret store at Tysons Corner shopping center.

Erie, PA: Woman charged with thousands in Check Fraud/ gift card purchases theft cases waives hearings
A Cleveland woman accused by state and Millcreek Township police of passing stolen checks to buy thousands of dollars' worth of gift cards from local stores in the Erie region in March 2015 is facing trial after waiving her preliminary hearing Tuesday under an agreement with prosecutors in which many of the criminal charges against her were dropped.
